Family Strides, Inc. is a community based program providing comprehensive services to enhance opportunities for families to grow and develop through ongoing education, support and free home based services to families.

CT Estimated State Population

Connecticut is the third smallest state in relation to the bordering New England states, the 29th most populous, and the fourth most densely populated of the 50 United States.

Connecticut Hunger and Food Insecurity

Percentage of households who were food insecure, meaning that at some point during the year, they experienced difficulty providing enough food due to a lack of money or resources.

Poverty Rate - Children Under Age 5

WIC is a food supplemental program that offers nutritious foods and education for pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age 5.

WIC First Trimester Enrollment

Torrington, CT is currently the highest ranked city with WIC first trimester enrollment. Source – Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Meet Our Team

Family Strides is made up of energetic, passionate individuals working as a team to help make a difference in our community.

Nicole Kilduff
Executive Director

Nicole began her work at Family Strides, Inc. in February of 1999.  She started out as a Family Support Worker (home visitor) and worked her way through the organization to Executive Director.  Nicole has a graduate degree in Human Services with a specialization in Social Work and Community Services through Capella University and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from Southeastern University.  Nicole has seen the positive impact the work the agency has provided to families and truly believes that the services strengthen families and are capable of building a stronger community.  Nicole enjoys doing this work in the community she calls home.  In her free time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, and running through the Northwest Corner.

Courtney Hosking
Clinical Supervisor

Courtney joined Family Strides, Inc. in December of 2012. Courtney received a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut. Before coming to Family Strides, Inc. Courtney worked as a Transitional Living Specialist with young adults aging out of the foster care system in Massachusetts.  Courtney grew up in Northwest Connecticut and strongly believes in the mission of Family Strides, Inc. and feels extremely fortunate to be able to have an impact on her community.  Outside of work Courtney enjoys running through New England’s beautiful outdoors, finding countless adventures to soak up all the wonder that exists in the world, and spending time with her close friends and family, especially her two young nieces. 

Laura Dubreuil

Laura has been employed at Family Strides Inc. since July of 1997.  Laura is a Registered Nurse graduating from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, CT.  Laura previously worked at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington for 20 years, first as a medical surgical nurse and then as a staff nurse on maternity.  She is a certified childbirth educator through the Academy of Certified Birth Educators.  Laura is the Nurturing Connections Manager and a group facilitator.  She has always worked in the community where she lives and values the wide variety of support and education that we offer families.  It is extremely rewarding to watch families grow and be the best they can be!   Laura enjoys gardening, hiking and spending time with her husband and family.

Sarah Onisto
Case Manager

Sarah began working at Family Strides in December 2006.  She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Hartford.  Over the years, Sarah has worked in many of the programs that Family Strides offers and enjoys working with the families in the community.  When not at work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and her daughter Alannah, as well as her large extended family.

Jessica Arthur
Home Visitor

Jessica joined Family Strides in May of 2015. Jessica comes to us with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood education from Post University. Prior to Family Strides Jessica was employed at Winsted Area Child Care Center for 11 years, as the lead toddler teacher. Jessica grew up in Northwest Connecticut and sees the impression Family Strides makes on the community. In her new role as a Family Support provider Jessica aims to enhance family strengths while providing knowledge to parents to promote their child’s growth.  Outside of work Jessica is a wife and mother of 3 children. Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, whether it be on the soccer field, wrestling mat or simply watching movies.

Sarai Perez
Home Visitor

Sarai joined Family Strides in June 2014. Sarai studied at Naugatuck Community College. Sarai comes to us with experience in case management as well as a support worker from Community Mental Health Affiliates.  Sarai grew up in Central Connecticut and is able to see the impact that Family Strides has on the community. In her role as Family Support Provider Sarai thrives to engage and support families through healthy growth and development. It is Sarai’s goal that all parents are successful. Outside of work Sarai is a mother of 2 children whom she enjoys spending time with and in Sarai’s free time she gets creative with face painting. 

Mary Gollan
Program Nutrionist

Mary joined Family Strides, Inc. in May of 2015. Mary received her Bachelor of Science degree and completion of her dietetic internship from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford. She is currently fulfilling her Master of Science from the University of Saint Joseph.  Mary is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Certified Lactation Counselor working as our Program Nutritionist for WIC.  Mary is involved in many community projects such as FitTogether Torrington, Head Start, board member of the Connecticut Academy of Dietetics, and is the founder and director of the USJ Nutrition and Physical Fitness Camp in Hartford.  She specializes in pediatric dietetics, and thoroughly enjoys bonding with our families to help them develop healthier eating habits. In her spare time, Mary dances for Moxie Dance Company in West Hartford, loves baking healthy treats for her friends and family, and is a beekeeper. 

Dale Caruso
Senior Home Visitor

Dale joined Family Strides in September, 1999 and continues today as a credentialed senior family support provider.  Dale received her teaching degree from Eastern CT State University and taught till she had a family.  Dale’s interest has always been about children and seeing that they are treated with love, respect and dignity.  Dale grew up in Litchfield County and raised her two children here as well.  When not at work Dale can be found enjoying her family, her now grown children and her grandson.

Rachel Bursiewicz
WIC Nutritionist

Rachel Bursiewicz joined Family Strides in October of 2014.  She graduated from the University of Saint Joseph in May 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition.  Rachel is a strong believer that healthy living is not about dieting and restrictions but living in moderation and balance.   Looking towards the future, Rachel plans to go back to school for her Masters in Dietetics and Nutrition.  In her free time, she enjoys creating art, traveling, and hanging out with friends, family, and her Basset Hound.

Emil Renzullo
Father Involvement

Emil has been a Case Manager and Group Facilitator for the Father Involvement Program here at Family Strides, Inc. for ten years.  Emil also serves on the State of Connecticut’s Fatherhood Advisory Council as the Case Management Representative for Community-based Fatherhood Programs.  Emil resides in Torrington with his family and enjoys working with Fathers within our community to help them be the best fathers they can be for their children. 

Jessica Rodriguez
WIC Program Assistant

Jessica joined Family Strides in March 2017.  Jessica has an Associate’s Degree in Human Services with specialization in Social Work.  Jessica has experience in the mental health field where she previously managed group homes, provided intensive outpatient treatment for children with behavioral issues, as well as respite care for children in foster care.  Jessica worked as a Bilingual Customer Service Representative for 2.5 years prior to joining the team at Family Strides, Inc.  Jessica likes to be upbeat and enjoys providing our participants with a positive experience.  Outside of work, Jessica keeps busy caring for her three daughters, including coaching her daughter’s cheerleading team.
